Suntory Old Whisky Year of the Sheep is a Japanese blended whisky from Suntory, released in honor of the start of the Year of the Sheep. The Japanese spirits giant Suntory was founded in 1899 by Shinjiro Torii, who opened a wine store in Osaka. In 1923, the company built the Yamazaki Distillery, the first malt whisky distillery in Japan. Suntory acquired the bourbon producer Beam Inc. in 2014, and was renamed Beam Suntory. Suntory Old Whisky was first introduced in 1950. At the time, the blend was considered the company’s classiest whisky. While single malts have since taken over that distinction, Suntory Old is still one of the most popular expressions in Japan.
