Talisker 25 Years Old 2005 is the third release of Talisker’s annual 25-year-old single malt. The whisky matured in refill casks and was bottled in 2005 at a natural cask strength of 57.2%. It was released as part of the Diageo Special Releases 2005 as a limited edition of 15600 bottles. The Talisker distillery on the Isle of Skye was founded by the brothers Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill in 1830. The local reverend Roderick Macleod had attempted to stop the distillery, preaching against the evils of whisky. Despite his warning that the distillery would be ‘one of the greatest curses that could befall it or any other place’, Talisker prospered and grew to be one of the most popular single malts in the world. Talisker was the only distillery on Skye until 2017, when Torabhaig opened.
