Talisker 25 Years Old 2011 is the 2011 bottling of Talisker’s annual 25-year-old single malt. The whisky matured in refill casks for 25 years. This is the first release to be bottled at Talisker’s traditional strength of 45.8% instead of at cask strength. The Talisker distillery on the Isle of Skye was founded by the brothers Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill in 1830. The local reverend Roderick Macleod had attempted to stop the distillery, preaching against the evils of whisky. Despite his warning that the distillery would be ‘one of the greatest curses that could befall it or any other place’, Talisker prospered and grew to be one of the most popular single malts in the world. Only 5946 bottles of Talisker 25 Years Old 2011 were released.
