Tamdhu 18 Years Old is an older single malt release from the mid-2000s, made with Tamdhu’s own malted barley, spring water and a delicate hint of local peat. The expression was discontinued when Ian Macleod took over the distillery in 2011. In 2022, a revamped 18-year-old was introduced to the new core range. Tamdhu 18 Years Old is a subtle and smooth dram with a rich, fruity nose and distinctive flavours of vanilla and orange on the palate. Fun fact: Tamdhu is the last distillery in Scotland that still uses Saladin boxes. This mechanical device, used for malting barley, was invented in France in the late 1800s. The distillery began modernising their original floor maltings in 1949.
