The 4th release of Teeling’s Renaissance series has an interesting little twist. After being aged in ex-bourbon barrels it is finished for 18 months in Pineau des Charentes casks. What’s Pineau des Charente you ask? It’s a gorgeous French fortified wine made from a mixture of lightly fermented grape must and cognac, and it gives this whisky a zesty fruit quality that is very special. The Renaissance series celebrates the rebirth of Dublin’s whiskey life, with the new Teeling distillery built in 2015 being the first new Dublin distillery in over 125 years! Teeling 18 Years Old Renaissance #4 Pineau Des Charentes has a nose of fresh grapes, ginger, oak and vanilla. The palate is vibrant with pineapple and citrus flavours rounded out with vanilla, honey and stone fruits. The finish has a tinge of red berries with clove and nutmeg.
