Templeton Rye 10 Years Old Single Barrel #3575 is a limited-edition straight rye whiskey, produced by the Iowa-based Templeton Distillery with spirit sourced from MGP of Indiana. The whiskey aged for a full decade in charred new American oak and is bottled at 104 proof from a hand-selected single barrel. The nose offers aromas of rich chocolate, vanilla, toasted oak, green apple and apricot. The palate is silky smooth with dark oak, honeyed floral notes and Templeton’s signature rye spice. The finish is clean and long-lasting with lingering butterscotch. Templeton Rye’s history starts in the small town of Templeton, Iowa during Prohibition. The town’s residents started illegally producing rye whiskey that became so popular that it was even said to be Al Capone’s favorite. When Prohibition ended in 1933, the Templeton Rye brand disappeared into the background—until 2006, when it was revived by Keith Kerkhoff, the grandson of one of the original bootleggers.
