This is the third annual release of Templeton Rye’s limited-edition barrel strength rye whiskey. The rye is sourced from the MGP of Indiana distillery and was bottled in May 2020 at a barrel strength of 56.55%, or 113.1 proof. Templeton Rye’s history starts in the small town of Templeton, Iowa during the Prohibition. The town’s residents started illegally producing rye whiskey that became so popular that it was even said to be Al Capone’s favorite. When Prohibition ended in 1933, the Templeton Rye brand disappeared into the background – until 2006, when it was revived by Keith Kerkhoff, the grandson of one of the original bootleggers.
