The Lakes is a very promising new distillery located in England’s Lake District National Park. It was founded in 2011 by a consortium led by Paul Currie, co-founder of the Isle of Arran distillery. The One Cask Expressions collection showcases the influence of oak and cask seasoning. The series features unique whiskies finished in the finest oak casks, adding a new dimension of aroma and flavour. The Lakes The One Colheita Cask Finish is made up of single malt from The Lakes and selected Scotch grain and malt whiskies from the Highlands, Speyside and Islay. The blend has been finished in rare Colheita Port casks, resulting in a rich and warming dram. The nose brings aromas of peach cobbler, fresh apricots and a whiff of smoke. Flavours of ripe plums, vanilla custard and warming cinnamon develop on the palate. The finish is rich and comforting.
