We love the new limited expressions from the Barton 1792 Distillery! Under their Thomas S. Moore brand, they launched three different extended cask finish bourbons: Port, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. This 95.3 proof Thomas S. Moore Cabernet Sauvignon Casks is oaky and chocolaty, combined with dark fruits. Thomas S. Moore built the distillery that is currently known as Barton 1792 in 1889, so it’s about time a brand was named after him (as is common with so many brands out there). All three Thomas S. Moore bourbons are made with a high rye recipe and bottled at a relatively high proof. Although the whiskey has a non-age statement, it’s ‘well aged’ in their own words. The expressions were finished for 1-3 years, which is pretty long for a wine finish. They are coming in tall bottles with great design, reflecting their exclusivity.
