Tobermory 25 Years Old Finest Whisky Berlin 1995 is an elegant and complex single malt, with notes of orange, grapefruit and licorice. It was released by the German independent bottler Sansibar for the Finest Whisky Berlin series. The whisky was distilled in 1995 and matured in a bourbon hogshead for 25 years. It was bottled in 2021 at 52.3%. Tobermory is one of the oldest active distilleries in Scotland. It is located in the town of Tobermory, the capital of the Isle of Mull. The distillery was founded in 1798 as Ledaig, meaning ‘safe haven’ in Gaelic. A drop in demand, caused by Prohibition in the United States, forced the distillery to close in 1930. When it reopened in 1972, it was renamed after its hometown. The name Tobermory comes from the Gaelic ‘Tobra Mhoire’, meaning ‘Mary’s well’, a reference to a nearby ancient well that was dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Only 210 bottles of Tobermory 25 Years Old Finest Whisky Berlin 1995 have been released.
