Tomatin 1996 Chieftain’s 19 Years Old is a single cask Tomatin whisky, bottled by Ian Macleod for the Chieftain’s Limited Edition Collection. The whisky was distilled in October 1996 and matured for 19 years in bourbon oak. It was finished in a Pedro Ximenez sherry butt before being bottled in June 2016 at 46% ABV. Did you know Tomatin is the first Scottish distillery that fell under Japanese ownership? When the distillery almost went bankrupt in 1985, it was saved by Takara Shuzo and Okura & Co. Only 623 bottles of Tomatin 1996 Chieftain’s 19 Years Old were released.
