Panama 2010 Transcontinental Rum Line is a small batch rum from an undisclosed distillery in Panama, bottled by La Maison du Whisky for the Transcontinental Rum Line. The rum was distilled in 2010 and aged for almost 6 years in a tropical climate. It was then transported to Europe and aged for a few more months, before being bottled in 2016 at 43%. On the nose, you’ll find aromas of citrus, candied apricot, sugarcane and dried fruit. The palate is pleasant and complex with spices and a gentle wood note, leading to a warm finish with hints of subtle oak and fine spice. La Maison du Whisky’s Transcontinental Rum Line pays tribute to the intertwined histories of the Caribbean and Europe. Ever since rum has been made, it has been shipped to Europe for nautical, economical and technical reasons. It allowed sailors to avoid the consumption of stagnant water; the angel’s share is lower and the rum matures more smoothly in the continental climate; and the diversity of barrels in Europe allows for the creation of unique expressions. The range features small batch and single cask rums that have been partially matured in the tropics and on the continent. Only 1300 bottles of Panama 2010 Transcontinental Rum Line have been released.
