A single cask rum from the Uitvlugt distillery in Guyana, released by Wealth Solutions for The Colours of Rum series. The rum was distilled in October 1999 and matured in cask #54 for 21 years, including 2 years in the tropics. It was bottled in February 2021 at a cask strength of 52.6%. The Colours of Rum is a wide range of premium single cask rum bottlings, created in 2021 by the Polish company Wealth Solutions. The design of each bottle is inspired by the colors of the country’s flag, resulting in a colorful range of rums from, among others, Jamaica, Barbados, and Trinidad. Uitvlugt is a legendary former distillery in Guyana. It was founded around 1750 and produced a heavy style rum. Over the years, Guyana’s many sugar estates started to close, and by 1970 there were only 11 sugar factories and 4 distilleries left. In 1975, the government started to privatize the remainder of them into one large distillery owned by the Guyana Liquor Corporation. Uitvlugt finally closed in 2000, and its stills were moved to the only remaining distillery in Guyana, the Diamond Distillery. Only 184 bottles of Uitvlugt 1999 The Colours Of Rum Edition 1 have been released.
