Velier 7 Years Old Bologne Flora Antillarum 2014 is a limited-edition rhum agricole from the Bologne distillery in Guadeloupe, bottled by Velier for the new Flora Antillarum range. This expression is a blend of 3 casks: new oak cask #322, distilled in May 2013; ex-cognac cask #252, distilled in May 2014; and ex-cognac cask #282, distilled in November 2014. The rum was fully matured at the distillery and bottled in 2022 at a barrel proof of 54.9%. The Bologne distillery in Guadeloupe’s capital Basse-Terre was established in 1887, making it the island’s oldest distillery. It is located on a 148 hectare sugarcane plantation founded in the 17th century. Bologne is the only distillery in Guadeloupe to farm black sugarcane, a variety which produces a concentrated juice with distinctive aromas but is rarely used these days due to its low yield. The distillery uses a low temperature distillation to allow the cane juice’s natural flavour to shine through. Only 1000 bottles of Velier 7 Years Old Bologne Flora Antillarum 2014 have been released.
