The Irish Waterford Distillery is the new kid on the block. The brand is set up by the former Bruichladdich distillery manager: this man knows how to make and market his whisky. Together with the Waterford, Ballycavan Edition 1.1, Sheestown Edition 1.1 and Bannow Island Edition 1.1, this Ballymorgan Edition 1.1 showcases what happens if you make a whiskey from barley that was harvested on one single farm. Ballymorgan Edition 1.1 was distilled in 2016 from barley that was grown at Wexford – one hour north east of the distillery – with its loamy, clay soils derived from slate and granit. It comes in a neat blue bottle and an even neater shiny box.
