In the late 1970s, the United State liquor industry switched from the Imperial system to metric, so up until the early 1980s, it’s not uncommon to to see both Imperial size and metric stated on whiskey bottles. An Imperial quart, a popular bottle size at the time, translates to 1.136 litres, rounded up to 1.14L in this case. Although there is no bottle code on the bottom of this Wild Turkey, we date this one as an early 1980s release. Seeing that it’s an 8-year-old 101 proof, that can mean only one thing: juice from the glut period! In the 1970s and 80s, there was over production of Wild Turkey, as there was little demand for bourbon in that time. We know, it’s crazy.
