Wild Turkey is American through and through, but occasionally other countries get some pretty cool exclusive releases, such as the Wild Turkey 13 Years Old Distiller’s Reserve. Made exclusively for the Japanese market in a pretty black box, this extra-aged bourbon was introduced in about 2014 to replace the classic 12 Years Old 101 Proof expression. Wild Turkey 13 Years Old Distiller’s Reserve matured for 13 years and is bottled at 91 proof. The bourbon is sweet and spicy on the nose with aromas of vanilla, caramel, orange peel, cherry, cinnamon, nutmeg, tobacco and some smoke. On the palate you’ll find rich notes of vanilla, caramel, dried apple, chocolate, toffee, honey, citrus and wood spices such as pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg and clove. The finish is well-balanced with hints of charred oak, licorice, caramel and wood spices.
