A vintage bottle of 8-year-old Wild Turkey bourbon, bottled in or just after 1979 at 101 proof. The bottle volume is mentioned in the metric and in the imperial system. The American liquor industry switched to metric in that time period. The Wild Turkey brand was created in 1940, when an Austin Nichols executive took some of the distillery’s warehouse samples with him on a wild turkey hunting trip. The bourbon was so popular among his friends that they continued to ask him for ‘that wild turkey bourbon’, and voila, the iconic brand was born!
