This 8-year-old Wild Turkey from 1983 (according to the bottle code) was imported to France back when. It says funny things on the back label, like: ‘vieilli en fûts de chêne brûlé’. At first we thought it meant the whisky would taste like crème brûlée, which would be perfectly possible. In fact, it just might taste like that at least a little bit. But when we asked our French co-worker (we really have one, he is called Mathieu), we found out it translates to ‘aged in burnt oak barrels’. The label shows some signs of age, which is not very surprising, considering it has been around for some time. A dusty Wild Turkey? Bring it on.
