Whoa, the second-ever bottled-in-bond release from Wild Turkey! This 17-year-old bourbon is part of the Master’s Keep Collection, an annual unique release of long-matured bourbon. The Master’s Keep series consists of bottlings from barrels that traveled between warehouses a bit. In 1997, Wild Turkey didn’t have enough space left in their warehouses for a surplus of bourbon, so Master Distiller Eddie Russell started to look for a place to store and age the extra barrels. A friend offered him the empty stone rickhouses of the Old Taylor Distillery (now Castle & Key). Whiskey ages differently in stone warehouses, but Eddie decided to experiment and let the bourbon age in the stone warehouses for a couple of years, before bringing it back to Wild Turkey’s wooden ones. The result is a one-of-a-kind complex and mature Wild Turkey bourbon. Wild Turkey Bottled In Bond 17 Years Old, released in June 2020, is only the second Bottled In Bond whiskey from Wild Turkey, the first being the 2007 Wild Turkey American Spirit release (which nearly literally flew off our shelves). A whiskey can be labeled Bottled in Bond under a few conditions: the bourbon has to be the product of one distillation season from one distillery, aged in a federally bonded warehouse for at least four years, and bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV). Wild Turkey Bottled In Bond 17 Years Old comes in an elegant bottle and a stunning blue box. Only 14,400 bottles have been released.
