The Old No. 8 Brand was introduced in 1992, when Wild Turkey had to remove the age statement from their flagship 8-year-old bourbon. In a classic (and rather devious) marketing trick, they replaced the age statement with the fancy but ultimately meaningless phrase ‘Old No. 8 Brand’. The folks at Austin Nichols quickly realised the error of their ways and discontinued the expression in 1999. Despite all the marketing shenanigans, Old No. 8 Brand is a damn good dusty bourbon.
