Williamson Laphroaig 11 Years Old North Star 2012 is a limited-edition Islay single malt from Laphroaig, released by Glasgow-based independent bottler North Star Spirits. Independent bottlings of Laphroaig single malt are often called ‘Williamson’ instead of Laphroaig. The name refers to Elizabeth ‘Bessie’ Williamson, the first female Scotch whisky distillery manager, who owned Laphroaig between 1954 and 1972. This practice allows the distillery to remain in control of its brand, while also paying tribute to an important figure in Laphroaig’s history. Williamson Laphroaig 11 Years Old North Star 2012 was distilled in April 2012, and matured for 11 years in a Pedro Ximénez sherry hogshead. It was bottled in April 2023 at 56.4%. Only 240 bottles have been released.
