A 1980s bottling of Wiser’s De Luxe 10 Years Old, a brand of Canadian whisky produced by spirits giant Hiram Walker. The tax strip indicates that the youngest whisky in this bottle was distilled in 1973. J.P. Wiser’s is the oldest continuously produced whisky in Canada. The brand was created in 1857 by John Philip Wiser, the manager of the Charles Payne Distillery and Farm in Prescott, Ontario. He bought the distillery five years later, and by the early 1900s he was exporting whisky all around the world. At that time, Wiser’s company was the third largest distillery in Canada. J.P. Wiser’s merged with Hiram Walker in 1935, who still produce the brand today.
