Wolfburn 2020 Quarter Cask Whisky Highland Whisky Festival is a limited-edition single malt from the Wolfburn distillery that was bottled for the 2020 Highland Whisky Festival, which was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The label features a fun large ‘cancelled’ stamp in commemoration. The whisky, distilled in 2013, is some of the distillery’s first production. It matured for 7 years in small quarter casks and was bottled in 2020 at 46%. The Wolfburn Distillery was founded by William Smith in 1822 and operated successfully for several decades. The distillery closed somewhere in the 1850s or 1860s for unknown reasons, and the buildings fell into ruin. In 2013 the Wolfburn brand was revived, with a new distillery located at about 350 meters from the original distillery. It uses the same water source, the Wolf Burn stream, from which the distillery also gets its name.
