Woodford Reserve Master’s Collection Madeira Cask Finish

The highly-anticipated annual Master’s Collection from Woodford Reserve features innovative variations upon Woodford Reserve’s award-winning whiskeys. For the 2024 release , Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall experimented with finishing bourbon, rye and wheat whiskies in Madeira barrels, creating uniquely fruit-forward whiskies. Hailing from the Madeira Islands off the coast of Portugal, Madeira barrels are rich with dried fruit, spice, and nutty flavors from the fortified wine they once held. To further enhance the flavors of the Madeira-finished whiskies, they were blended with Woodford Reserve’s fruit-forward Kentucky straight wheat whiskey. Woodford Reserve Master’s Collection Madeira Cask Finish offers dark cherries and candied oranges sprinkled with cocoa powder, complemented by bright pepper, clove, nutmeg, and cedar wood. On the palate, rich oak, cinnamon, clove and tobacco fade into robust dark fruit notes of raisins and dried cranberries. The bright spice notes linger and give way to berry fruit and dark cocoa.
