Savanna Distillery

Savanna is a rum distillery in the French overseas department of Réunion, an island near Madagascar. It was founded in 1870 in Saint-Paul, on the west coast of the island. In 1992, the distillery was moved to the site of the Bois-Rouge sugar factory on the north-east of the island. Savanna produces both traditional rum (made from molasses) and agricultural rum (made from pure sugarcane juice), a rare practice for rum distilleries. Every part of the process happens on-site, from harvesting the sugarcane to bottling the rum.
