Talisker Distillery

Talisker is the oldest whisky distillery on the Isle of Skye, the largest island of the Inner Hebrides. It was founded in 1830 by the brothers Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill. The local reverend Roderick Macleod had attempted to stop the distillery, preaching against the evils of whisky. Despite his warning that the distillery would be ‘one of the greatest curses that could befall it or any other place’, Talisker prospered and grew to be one of the most popular single malts in the world. Talisker was the only distillery on Skye for almost two centuries, until Torabhaig opened in 2017.
