Wild Turkey BOURBON

The Wild Turkey brand was created after an Austin Nichols executive, Thomas McCarthy, brought some bourbon from the warehouse with him on a wild turkey hunting trip in 1940. It was so popular among his friends that they kept asking him for ‘that wild turkey bourbon’. The first Wild Turkey 101 was introduced less than two years later, in 1942. Initially the company was a non-distiller producer and sourced their bourbon from the Ripy Brothers Distillery, founded in 1891 as the Old Hickory Distillery. In 1971, Austin Nichols acquired the distillery and changed its name to the Wild Turkey Distillery.
