The Macallan Fine Oak 18 Years Old was the first Macallan that was not solely aged in sherry casks. During the first release in 2004 not everyone was immediately convinced, as Macallan was renowned for their amazing sherry-cask selection from Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. In a way this Macallan Fine Oak 18 was the predecessor of a lot of the heavily marketed non age statement Macallan that you see nowadays. Yes, sir, the times they are a-changin’. Looking back, at least this Macallan has 18 years of barrel aging under its belt. After Macallan decided to lose the age-statement altogether, they came back to this decision in 2018 when the Fine Oak series was renamed as the Triple Cask Matured range.
