In 2009, Macallan introduced the travel retail exclusive 1824 Collection. The Whisky Maker’s Edition is one of the expressions in this unique range. Inspired by Macallan’s Six Pillars, each bottle in this limited-edition series is represented by an X-ray photograph from Nick Veasey. Pillar No. 3, The Finest Cut, is represented by scissors. The cut is the amount of distilled spirit collected from the stills—Macallan typically selects just 16% of the new make spirit for maturation. Macallan Whisky Maker’s Edition The Finest Cut has aromas of fresh fruit, ginger and toffee with hints of clove, nutmeg and polished oak. On the palate you’ll find delicate fruits, rich sweetness and spice. The finish is lingering and slightly smoky.
