Mackmyra Preludium is a series of six limited-edition bottlings from Mackmyra in Sweden, featuring some of the distillery’s very first releases. Each expression represents an aspect of how Mackmyra creates its single malt. Mackmyra Preludium 05 showcases the effect of small cask maturation on the whisky’s flavour profile. The single malt first matured in 200-litre ex-bourbon casks. It was then finished in hand-crafted 30-litre casks for a final six months, and bottled on 8 August 2007 at 48.5%. The result is a powerful and spicy whisky with an intense vanilla sweetness, fiery spices, dried fruit, honey and a light smokiness. One of 24000 bottles.
