Weller Single Barrel is the newest expression in Buffalo Trace’s Weller range. The wheated bourbon, bottled at 97 proof, was released in June 2020 and will be an annual bottling. This is the first single barrel release from the much-beloved Weller brand. W.L. Weller was introduced at the legendary Stitzel-Weller Distillery and is named after the famous 19th century distiller William Larue Weller, who was the first to distill straight bourbon from wheat instead of rye. Its wheat bourbon recipe is supposed to be the same as that of Pappy Van Winkle’s and other Buffalo Trace wheat bourbons. Sazerac acquired the W.L. Weller brand in 1999, and today the bourbon is produced at the Buffalo Trace Distillery.
