Knappogue Castle 12 Years Old Marsala Cask is a limited-edition single malt Irish whiskey, sourced from Bushmills and released as part of Knappogue Castle’s Cask Finish Series. The whiskey first matured in ex-bourbon barrels for a minimum of 12 years. It was then finished in Marsala casks from the Marco de Bartoli winery and bottled at 46%. Only 690 bottles have been released. When Mark Edwin Andrews bought the historic Knappogue Castle in County Clare in 1966, he started collecting rare single malt Irish whiskeys. He privately bottled the whiskey, which he named after the castle. The company was later taken over by his son Mark Edwin Andrews III, who established Great Spirits LLC in 1998. Great Spirits merged with Castle Brands Inc in 2003. Knappogue Castle sources its whiskey from other distilleries, including Cooley and Bushmills.
