Yamazaki 12 Years Old is a Japanese single malt, produced at the Suntory-owned Yamazaki distillery. The whisky matured for 12 years in American, Spanish and Japanese oak casks and is bottled at 43% ABV. The Yamazaki distillery was built in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii, who had founded Suntory in 1899. It was the first malt whisky distillery in Japan and is appropriately known as the birthplace of Japanese whisky. This is the newer release, that comes in the classy back box, as opposed to the yellow box it was released in prior to that.
