Tullibardine Distillery
Tullibardine was founded in 1949 by the architect William Delmé-Evans. The distillery is located on the site of an old brewery, which made ale for the coronation of King James IV back in 1488. In 1953, the distillery was sold to the blending company Brodie Hepburn, who increased the production capacity. Invergordon bought Brodie Hepburn in 1971 and became the new owner of Tullibardine. Two years later, the number of stills was increased from two to four. Whyte & Mackay took over Invergordon Distillers in 1993, and mothballed Tullibardine a year later. Production restarted in December 2003, after the distillery had been bought by the consortium Tullibardine Distillery Ltd. The distillery was sold to the French firm Picard Vins & Spiritueux in 2011, who invested in the visitor center and improved the distillery’s accessibility.
